Building Warrant of FitnessEach building in New Zealand that contains a certain building safety features; (such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, exits ways, hose reels and a number of others), are required to keep those safety features maintained in good working order on a regular basis (usually monthly or quarterly). On an annual basis, Independently Qualified Persons (known as IQP’s, who are licensed with Local Authorities) must inspect and report on these building features. The objective is, to certify that the features still comply and have been regularly maintained in accordance with the appropriate Standards. Many building owners ask a single IQP to co ordinate the collection of Certificates of Compliance from the individual IQP’s and advise them of the accuracy of the information they are receiving. Some even ask the consultant to issue the Building Warrant of Fitness for them once all documentation has been received. This is a service that Fire Risk Management provides for a very few selected customers.
